My husband and I are moving to a farm on the Vryheid/Melmoth road in the new year. Could you guys tell us more about the area, events etc. Good or Bad!!! We come from JHB so very little will put us off the big move, but we would like to know what to expect.

Hi Spottydog, sorry no one replied to your post.
Maybe people are scared of telling the truth or to admit to anything negative about Vryheid. Vryheid is a lovely little town, with lots of events going on, but the sad truth is that the crime in this region has soared in the last two years and is getting out of control. If you want to move here to retire, good! If you want to move here because of crime in JHB, you will find that crime in Vryheid is sometimes worse than the crime in JHB.
But, the good side is, that Vryheid is truly a beautiful place. When I moved here (almost 12 years ago) I immediately fell in love with this place, the people and the surroundings.
All I can say is..... good luck in you decisions, may you make the right choice!
