Tough one,,,I wonder what the Vryheid's Website is actually for???Is it not supposed to be there to convey happenings to the general public i.r.t. happenings and events to take place that people would like to participate in???
My stance is that the newspapers and printed media did their JOB that they get PAID for .
What will the bereaved families benefit by seeing their loved ones demise being discussed on the INTERNET as well??
A very sensitive issue that I think should be left to the families and not the webmaster to convey to the world.If they approached the webmaster and asked it to be published on the INTERNET ,that's another story.

Wie dink Vryheid Resident is hy/sy? Ek dink die persoon het inelkgeval iewers 'n skroef los of is 'n vloslae smartvraat. Ek meen, hoekom so iets op Vryheid se webblad publiseer? Ag nee man, gaan lees die koerant of soek iets om met jou vrye tyd te doen. Ek kan vir jou 'n paar woeste voorstelle maak, maar ek sal myself maar nie hier uitlaat nie.
Ek stem saam met Spinnekop, as die goed dan op die internet gepubliseer moet word, laat die families dit dan versoek.

Daar's te veel hartseer in die ou lewe. Hoekom nou swartgallig raak en al die dinges van die dorp hier publiseer. Kom nou ouens, wat ons hier nodig het, is 'n lekker tong in die kies skinder kolom... met topics soos "ek hoor so en so gaan trou" of "die en die verwag 'n baba". Sodat ons almal saam met hulle kan bly wees en hulle kan congratulate met hul prestasies. Ek wil nie nog lees van moord en doodslag nie! Hoe lyk dit? Gaan julle vir die ander Residents van Vryheid dalk so iets opsit? Of is ek nou voorbarig?   ;D |

I used to stay in Vryheid 7 years ago and still miss it alot. I come onto the website once a week to see if there might be any new news or photos to see. Why dont Webmonstertjie rather put up a link somewhere on the site where we can go read the Vryheid Herald online rather than blabbing every gruesome detail on this site. I do admit, i wouldn't like it to go on this site to see all the "bad" stuff happening in "my nice little ou dorpie". Give us a link rather than sending all the tourists away.... |

Ek is ook 'n oud-Vryheid inwoner en kom nou en dan na die webwerf om te sien wat in Vryheid aan die gang is. Slegte nuus is nie wat ek wil sien nie, want daar is genoeg daarvan in die media dus om al die misdaad statistiek in Vryheid hier te publiseer is volgens my spasie mors. Ek stem ook saam met van die ander lede dat dit nie 'n goeie idee is om ander mense se dood 'n onderwerp op die webwerf te maak nie, tensy dit van hulle direkte familie lede kom en geplaas word. 'n Link na die Vryheid Herald sal goed wees - dit is te se as hulle 'n webwerf het. Ek dink julle het julle goed van julle taak gekwyt met hierdie webwerf en hoop julle sal die goeie werk volhou. Wag nou in spanning vir die"New Look".

On account of all the e-mails and forum posts received, there were decided that Vryheid’s website is not the correct medium to publish all the negative aspects of the town. Therefore I will not open a forum for Crime report /discussion nor will I report any incidents of crime or unfortunate events in the news column.
The Vryheid Herald does not have a website, but I will liaise with them early in 2007, to see if we can create a page for them. Thank you for your response and support.
